A key moment or decision that helped you progress in your career?
There were many moments that helped me progress in my career, but they were all related to one key decision: embracing change to achieve my full potential. I have accepted, that growth occurs outside my comfort zone. I moved to Scotland, where I did my honours degree, I have worked with many international businesses, where challenges forced me to build resilience.
I joined the FFG as the Technical Manager a few years ago. At that time, I was a Project Manager for a much smaller Company, and even though I really enjoyed what I was doing, I knew there was no option for further advancement there. Therefore, I decided to step out of my comfort zone and make the switch. It wasn’t always a smooth ride, but I am very fortunate to be surrounded by some great people I can always count on.
The most recent decision that changed my path was grabbing the opportunity to become Site Excellence Lead and work on continuous improvement. I am very excited to foster a culture of employee empowerment and engagement, to drive positive change.
What support or opportunity has FFG gave you which made the biggest difference to your career?
I feel extremely fortunate to be a part of FFG. One of the aspects that motivates me most is the group’s strong growth mindset. The emphasis on continuous improvement and learning, combined with mentorship and coaching, creates a dynamic environment that supports professional development and makes me feel valued, supported, and inspired.
I had many opportunities to work on cross functional projects that helped me build new skills, embrace challenges and pursue personal growth.
The leaders and mentors I have the privilege to work with listen, guide and help me through many difficulties. They created a positive, inclusive culture built on trust, and respect and it made the biggest difference in my career here.
One piece of advice you’d give to someone building their career in your profession at FFG?
Stay positive and don’t let the fear of failure hold you back.
Take advantage of the opportunities offered to you. Be brave, ask questions. Be willing to learn and open to advice and constructive criticism. Focus on personal growth and continuously improve your skills. Seek mentorship, as there are plenty of great leaders here, who are happy to help.
One of my mentors often says: “Everyday is a school day” and I couldn’t agree more…
