Lightbody is the UK’s largest supplier of celebration cakes to UK retailers, with Disney, Mars, Universal and Thorntons all within its portfolio of branded cakes made under licence. It also makes supermarkets’ own-label cakes, with products including a wide range of sweet snacks, slices and in-store bakery bites.

Based in Hamilton, Scotland, the Lightbody business joined the Finsbury Food Group in 2007, and employs over 1,100 people. As the UK’s leading manufacturer of celebration cakes, we felt it was important to take a lead on the growing issue of nut allergies, and therefore invested significantly in the Hamilton site during 2020 to turn it into a fully nut-free bakery.
